Title: Special Relativity and Modern Nuclear and Particle Physics
Einstein's special relativity played an important role in nuclear and particle physics. We will illuminate both the importance and the utility of special relativity in modern nuclear and particle physics. After presenting a brief survey of the fundamental building blocks of matters and the associated interactions, we will review the two distinguished forms of relativistic dynamics originally proposed by Dirac about sixty years ago. We will discuss the advantage as well as the disadvantage of each form in the application to the modern nuclear and particle physics. We will remark on our recent development of handling the relativistic dynamics in strongly interacting particle systems.
